Easy After School Snacks Kids Will Love

Satisfy during after school snack time with these taste bud pleasing treats that can be whipped up quickly. From crunchy celery creatures to frozen yogurt cups topped with fruit, one of these sweet snacks is sure to become your child’s afternoon must-have.

You’ll Need:

For Fruity Cereal Bars

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 10 oz. marshmallows
  • 5 cups fruity cereal

For S’mores Cereal Bars

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 10 oz. marshmallows
  • 5 cups graham-flavored cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

For Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 10 oz. marshmallows
  • 5 cups chocolate cereal
  • ½ cup peanut butter

Instructions:

  1. GREASE a 9”x13” pan. Set aside.
  2. In a sauce pan, MELT butter. Add marshmallows gradually, stirring until smooth.
  3. If making the chocolate peanut butter bars, ADD peanut butter to the mixture now. If not, go to step 4.
  4. STIR in the cereal.
  5. Evenly PRESS the mixture into the greased pan.
  6. For the s’mores cereal bars, SPRINKLE chocolate chips and mini marshmallows on top. If not, go to step 7.
  7. CUT into small squares, and enjoy!

You’ll Need:

  • Celery
  • Peanut butter
  • Soft, spreadable cheese
  • Fruits and veggies
  • Candy eyes

Instructions:

  1. CUT celery into sticks in varying sizes.
  2. SPREAD peanut butter or cheese inside the celery.
  3. CHOOSE a round fruit or vegetable for your celery creature’s head (the Scout Elves used grapes, blueberries and cherry tomatoes), and place it at one end of the celery stick.
  4. FILL in the rest of your critter’s body with fruits or veggies (the Scout Elves used oranges, bananas, grapes, kiwi and blueberries).
  5. ATTACH candy eyes to the head of your crunchy celery creature by using the cheese or peanut butter as glue.
  6. For an added touch, POKE holes in the head of your critter using a toothpick, and insert small pieces of celery to create antennae.

You’ll Need:

  • Frozen yogurt
  • Fruit
  • Miniature cupcake liners

Instructions:

  1. SPREAD out mini cupcake liners on a baking sheet or plate.
  2. SPOON frozen yogurt into each liner.
  3. GARNISH with chopped up fruit.
  4. PUT in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
  5. ENJOY!

You’ll Need:

  • Apples
  • Peanut butter
  • Granola
  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. CUT an apple horizontally to form circular slices.
  2. TRIM the middles of the slices to remove any apple core.
  3. SPREAD peanut butter over the slices.
  4. SCATTER with mini chocolate chips and granola.
